What about fonts?

Please supply all fonts used with your artwork or alternatively please turn all text to outlines before saving.

  • Sending the fonts will allow us to perform minor editing of text on your instruction (handy when there is no time to send us new artwork due to tight deadlines)
  • Turning all fonts to outlines or curves eliminates the worry of missing fonts.

Will I see a proof before you print my graphics?
Yes, we will email you a pdf for your approval. We will not print anything until we have received your approval. You can also request a Machine proof which is a hard copy proof on the actual stock we will use for your finished print. Please let us know if you need a Machine proof and one of our sales team will provide you with a quote.

Can you match Pantone colours?
Pantone colours can only ever be simulated when using CMYK printers. If you have used Pantone colours in your artwork and you would like us to check their accuracy before printing then please make us aware of this when you place your order or request a "machine proof" which is a hard copy proof produced on the actual media your final print will be produced on, this enables you to check how your critical colours will be reproduced.

Whats a vector graphic?

Vector graphics are created in programs like Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw & Freehand, in there basic form they are not dependent on resolution to ensure quality reproductions when printed. They are indefinately scalable without loss of quality in any way.

Please note that most programs allow you to add rendered effects to your vector based graphic, If you are applying any effects such as blur's or drop shadows, please set the raster effects setting to the highest available (usually 300dpi) before saving.

I don't have any pantone references, how will you match my corporate colour scheme?

You can send us any reference material you wish and we will endeavour to match colours as closely as possible.

For example, if you only have your printed stationery as a colour reference then just send a letterhead or compliments slip to us and we will match to that. Basically any colour approved sample can be submitted as a color reference.

 General
Can you match my corporate colours?

In short, yes we can. We print using 4 colour process therefore some colours can be matched closer than others but in general any colour can be matched to an extremely close match.

Please make us aware of any critical colours that are particularly sensitive so that we can make every effort to ensure the very best match.

Can I supply images downloaded from websites?

No. Images on websites are only 72dpi at the size you view them on screen. Any enlargements from these files will produce extremely poor results.

If web graphics are all you have available then depending on the complexity of the design, we may be able to recreate them in a suitable format for you. Please see our artwork packages for a fixed price service to suit your requirement.

Can we supply RGB files?

Ideally, no. All our printers use CMYK ink sets. Please convert all images and artwork to CMYK as RGB images often produce unpedictable or unsatisfactory results.

If you are going to submit artwork in RGB then conversion costs may apply. Please see our artwork packages section for more details.

Will our final print look the same as it does on our computer screen?

No. Your monitor displays colours in RGB so unless your monitor has been professionally calibrated then colours are unlikely to come out the same once printed.

We will endevour to match as closely as possible to any reference material you care to supply Please see colour matching for more details.

 Image Resolution
What dpi should my images be to get a perfect result?

For the best results all images should be scanned at a high enough resolution to produce 75dpi when printed at full size. You need to calculate the resolution depending on the size of the original (the item your scanning) and what size you intend to reproduce it.

Image resolution - Scanning formula
Size of Original 250mm high
Intended size of reproduction 1000mm high
Scanning resolution required 300 dpi

Rendered graphics such as Photoshop documents, or the .jpg, .tif or .eps files created from them should also be created to produce 75dpi at full size so again depending on what scale you are creating your artwork you need to calculate what resolution you should save your artwork at.

PSD's, jpg, tif & eps file creation formula
Working at 100% - Save at 75dpi
Working at 50% - Save at 150 dpi
Working at 25% - Save at 300 dpi
Working at 10% - Save at 720 dpi
